Almost a decade ago, my family and I picked Tecumseh from nine different communities in SE Michigan and we have not looked back. After graduating from Indiana University, I started my almost 30-year career in the automotive industry which has provided me expertise in budgeting, indirect and construction purchasing and management, government affairs, workforce development, and K-12 educational partnerships.

Why I am running for the School Board

My wide professional experience and continuing education as a certified Michigan School Board member position me to continue the work of stabilizing Tecumseh’s finances through stewardship and enrollment growth, improving our schools’ physical and cultural environments, and giving every child in every grade the chance to exceed their dreams for their future.

I am committed to serving my neighbors, recognizing that strong schools with growing enrollments are essential to vibrant communities. I trust parents to make informed decisions about their child's education and encourage their active participation in school programs. I believe that empowering teachers and students leads to superior outcomes. Our collective responsibility is to collaborate with parents and the community to prepare students for future success.

Regarding academics, I believe…

Elementary gives space to nurture the love of learning with interactive, play and place-based curriculum focused on the building blocks for success with peers and academically in MS and HS.

Middle School is a time to explore their multiple choices for career and life based on their favorite subjects and interests.  Through increasingly rigorous class work, project-based learning, and community interactions, they will be ready to take advantage of all that high school has to offer.

High School is the place to focus on their future career through life and employment readiness, with multiple pathways like innovative career and technical/trade education, stackable credentials, and college readiness (Dual Enrollment, AP, etc).

Extracurricular opportunities should be available at all grades, including athletics, arts and music, science and technology, and nature.
